Beckys Tubal Reversal Journey - Part 2
Excerpt from Video Transcript
Nurse: This should be the hardest part of your day. Everything else you will not remember and all the medicines we will give to you through your IV.
Becky: Do you have the card, baby?
Lewis: What card?
Becky: The card for Dr. Berger.
Lewis: You gave it to the lady up there. Heck, I don't know.
Nurse: No, I saw you had it (speaking to Becky). You had it in your hand when you came in. It might be in the bathroom.
Becky: Okay.
Lewis: You didn't give it to me baby.
Becky: Okay, I did that with the paperwork they gave me yesterday and I left it in the serving center so. And they are getting this on tape saying don't do like she does. (laughing)
Nurse: One problem is this tube is very long. You have to keep it until the very last thing today but I will help you with it.
Becky: Okay, and I work in a lab to so I know.
Nurse: We are going to sit in the other room. You're patient number one and they are probably ready for you to come back. We are going to put your arm bands on.
Becky: If you could find my card, baby, I would appreciate it.
Lewis: I will go and look for it.
Nurse: I will go and look for it for you. Did you have a book with you or is that Lewis's book.
Becky: That is Lewis's book.
Nurse: Does this band feel okay? (Looks at Lewis) We are getting Freddy!
Becky: Yes, that feels fine. That's like Daniel. My son is in the Army and he came home and told me he is certified to do IV's now. And I said, "Oh, not on me!"
Nurse: He just wanted the practice. Hi Becky, I am Lori and I am going to be your nurse in the OR today.
Becky: Nice to meet you.
Nurse Lori: Nice to meet you too. If you don't mind I am just going to take a look at your bands. Everything is spelled correctly? And the date of birth is right?
Becky: Yes, everything is correct.
Nurse Lori: Alright, and tell me what you are allergic to.
Becky: Penicillin, Sulfa, and Keflex and molds.
Nurse Lori: And can you tell me what kind of surgery you are having today?
Becky: Boob job, a tummy tuck and my tubes reversed.
Nurse Lori: Okay, well that is going to take a little bit! You don't need any of that. How about we just do the tubal reversal?
Lewis: This is my phone when I had my knee replacement in January they asked me what I was having done and I said a total knee replacement and a boob job. And Becky said, well I will just tell them the same thing. And I said oh okay.
Becky: Well, I had to make sure you guys were awake.
Nurse Lori: That's right! And we have had our coffee this morning.
Lewis: And I got a lot of stares…good grief. Well, I was a Navy Seal for twenty-two years and I though my sense of humor was gone.
Nurse Lori: Okay, are we ready? And you know I am going to have her back there about an hour and a half?
Lewis: Yes, I do.
Nurse Lori: And as soon as she comes out of surgery I will come and get you.
Lewis: Okay and baby goodnight.
Becky: Goodnight and I love you.
Nurse Lori: And we shall return and better than we were.
