Pregnant With Tubal Reversal Baby Video
Tubal Reversal Patient Erin K. tells Dr. Berger how the tubal reversal surgery he performed helped her become pregnant again after her tubal ligation. She decided to have Dr. Berger reverse her tubal ligation after finding the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center website where she discovered that tubal ligation reversals there are not only less expensive than elsewhere but also are outpatient procedures. She describes how the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center staff is dedicated and compassionate before, during and after she had her tubes untied.

Child #4: And I am Isaiah and I am 5.
Dr. Berger: So you are five too?
Isaiah: Yes
Dr. Berger: And what's your name?
Child #5: I am 3.
Dr. Berger: Three?
Child #5: Yep
Dr. Berger: Nice looking family!
Erin: Thanks, I appreciate that thank- you.
Child #5: And next year I am going to be four.
Dr. Berger: Ah huh, that is good.
Erin: She tells everyone that.
Dr. Berger: When is your birthday?
Child #5: October, the same as the baby.
Dr. Berger: Mine's October too. So, after the birth of the baby? So, you have another baby coming?
Erin: Yes, thanks to Dr. Berger.
Dr. Berger: And when is the baby due?
Erin: The baby is due at the beginning of September.
Dr. Berger: So the beginning of September.
Erin: I am having a home birth so the midwife comes to our house. So I had my beginning ultrasound to be sure it wasn't a tubal. And I haven't had another.
Dr. Berger: So when was your reversal surgery again?
Erin: It was October 7th of last year.
Dr. Berger: October 7th of last year. So you became pregnant in January.
Erin: Yes in January.
Dr. Berger: That is pretty fast. You didn't waste any time.
Erin: (laughing) No, but it was nice. I had a little bit of a break and then all of a sudden so.
Dr. Berger: Were there any problems during the pregnancy?
Erin: No, normal just morning sickness.
Dr. Berger: So what were the circumstances? What made you decide to get your tubes repaired when you did?
Erin: Well, we are probably a little different then most families. We had our four and I got my tubes tied which we immediately regretted that. You know, as you get older and more mature we think that children are a blessing from God so. I had my tubes tied and we became foster parents. And that is how we adopted Isaiah. And then with Isaiah the laws had changed and you could only have five children in your home if you are adopting through the state so. We checked into international adoption and that is quite pricey.
Dr. Berger: Ah huh.
Erin: So my husband had said well you could always get your tubes untied. Because a year prior I had seen your website but it was surgery ya know. But then we started thinking about it and I went through every little page on the website ans said it seems like a really good thing. And then I did talk to my Dr. and said they do it in Greenville and it's kind of expensive and you have to stay in the hospital for a while. So, I just kept coming back to Dr. Berger's website and it was reasonable and women from all over the world came. And when we finally came I was happy because it was a very nice experience. We came and everyone has been so sweet to my husband and me. Before the surgery and during and after everyone was just so kind. And they called the next day and then they called me at home. It has just been a really good experience. And it wasn't painful. I mean it was a little bit but getting my tubes tied was much worse than this. I appreciate it a lot.
Dr. Berger: Good. Well, I think all the staff they love what they do and it's nice to be able to take care of people like you. And it's good to hear that everyone has treated you well.
Erin: Everyone here was really nice and they talked to you like they knew you. Like they had met you before and being a nurse at a hospital and sometimes you meet people who are having a bad day. But everyone here I saw how they interacted with other people and it was just so nice.
Dr. Berger: Well part of it is we are not so busy like in the hospital. So people are not rushed and we limit the number of patients we see each day and that is all that we do. So I think it's easy in a hospital for people to get overwhelmed and this is more of a controlled environment and we want to keep it that way.
Erin: But still, all of the nurses, assistants and secretaries were really, really nice and that was I am just not used to that. And throughout the whole day and with any contact. I don't know I just appreciate you all so much. I am so glad that I did this really.
Erin: And when my husband and I had met with you I had read about post tubal ligation syndrome.
Dr. Berger: Ah huh
Erin: And I had my tubes tied for about a year and with each period I had the symptoms. Since my tubal reversal I am just feeling so much better.
